A poll conducted at the recent Citywire South Africa Virtual event found that local fund selectors make use of a broad selection of alternative asset classes in their portfolios. This has been particularly useful in the market turmoil of this year.
‘If we look at unlisted debt, infrastructure and private equity, the unlisted nature means that you naturally get the smoothing effect, because you don’t have an instrument that is priced on a daily basis,’ said Claire Rentzke, CIO at Sukha & Associates.
